Session 1: The Grip

Session 1: The Grip

Session 1 of 10

Greetings everyone,

Today is the first of 10 lessons I will be sharing with you all. I would first like to start with giving thanks to all the great legends that came before me!

No matter if you’re new to the game or have been playing for a while this session is for you.

So today’s session is about the most powerful part of the game and that will be 'the grip'. We will derive our lesson from Ben Hogan‘s Five Lessons. In his book he states “A golfer’s powers are originated and generated by the movement of the body. His powers are transferred from the players body to his arms and into his hands. It multiplies itself enormously with every transfer, like a chain reaction in physics”.

So what grip do you all think is the best. Would it be the interlocking or the overlapping grip. I find the grip that allows you to move your hands in unison is the best for your game. Remember it is the grip that allows you to control the club face through impact and convert that positive energy into Power at impact!
Before you start changing your grip always be aware that if the grip you change to is not comfortable and doesn’t allow you control of your club face through impact it is not the grip for you. The Varner grip Otherwise known as the overlapping grip has been known to create a more unified control of the club face through impact.

Most of all if you have problems controlling the club face through impact please go see your local pro!
